PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for producing a high viscosity oxide crystal, with which a high quality crystal can be produced even when the crystal is a compound oxide crystal, such as an optical borate system having a high viscosity and entrapping air bubbles easily. SOLUTION: The device for producing the high viscosity oxide crystal is constituted of a cylindrical outer crucible (1) for melting a raw material of the high viscosity oxide crystal, a cylindrical inner crucible (2) which is suspended in the outer crucible and has a diameter smaller and a depth shallower than those of the crucible (1), a heating means (8) for melting the raw material in the outer crucible (1) and the inner crucible (2), and a pulling rod which has a seed crystal at its tip end and pulls up the oxide crystal from the inner crucible (2) while being rotated.
