PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide on-line identification (ID) data detection method and device capable of minimizing the leakage of information concerned with an ID data (electronic watermark (e-WM) adding method from a center and efficiently detecting ID data. SOLUTION: A center terminal 101 does not receive an e-WM detection request until a user terminal 102 verifies the validity of detection request data by detection request validity verification data. Thereby attack from a malicious person intending to acquire the e-WM adding method by an illegal detection request based on a specific data string without using the real data to be inspected can be prevented. In the case of informing the user terminal 102 of a detected result, the center terminal 101 must verify the validity of the detected result. Thereby the terminal 101 can not lie about the detected result and the terminal 102 can detect the e-WM of one data to be detected by the transmission of only one detection request, so that a procedure necessary for the e-WM can be efficiently executed.
