PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a petroleum resin-based hydrocarbon resin composition, which prevents deterioration of working environment by a peculiar smell when processed or used at a high temperature, by an industrially advantageous method and a hot-melt adhesive composition which slightly emits a smell in coating operation and does not leave a smell in a final product using an adhesive. SOLUTION: This hydrocarbon resin composition comprises a hydrocarbon resin which is obtained by polymerizing a hydrocarbon monomer mixture and has 60-120°C softening point and a perfume which is a simple substance perfume having≥200°C boiling point under atmospheric pressure or a compound perfume composed of two or more kinds of the simple substance perfumes.
