A seat 10 for a motor vehicle comprises a seat cushion 12 formed by a central portion 13 and two identical side bolsters 14A, 14B. One side bolster 14B located in use adjacent a door of the motor vehicle is moveable from its normal raised position to a lowered position. In the lowered position an upper edge 14E of the side bolster 14B is aligned with an upper surface 13U of the central portion 13 so as to assist a passenger entering or exiting the seat 10. The bolster may be pivotally connected to a support structure of the seat [fig. 4] or slidingly connected to the support structure for essentially vertical displacement [fig. 5]. The bolster may be biased towards the raised normal position where it is held in place by a latch. A retraction mechanism activated by the opening of a door may lower the bolster. |
