PROCESS AND DEVICE FOR DROP FORGING EXTERNAL SPUR GEARS

The invention relates to a process and a device for drop forging the external spur gears using elastic dies, with a view to manufacturing high-stress gearings for various purposes. The drop forging is performed inside an elastic mobile metal sleeve (2) shrinking onto the material of the spur gear (a) while it is compressed between a punch (1) and a withdrawing device (5) profiled according to the desired toothing. The cavity of the sleeve (2) has the negative profile of the desired toohing. Said assembly is closed in a firm and fixed container (3). The size of the elastic deformation of the sleeve, the force and, implicitly, the moment of occurence of the elastic deformation are adjustable by the limitation of the sleeve stroke and by some elastic elements (4) put under the sleeve.
