The clip for a cable (SE1) comprises a housing (GEH) with a bore (G01-GO2), through which the cable passes. A swiveling catch (FI) above the cable has two clamping surfaces (KF, KF'). These cooperate with a block (GE) below the cable to allow it to move in opposite directions, according to which clamping surface is used. An Independent claim is included for a snow chain system fitted using the clip.
