<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process cartridge and an image forming apparatus having an image carrier having a high loss tangent and of high durability, wherein an abnormal vibration occurring between the image carrier and a cleaning member such as a cleaning blade is suppressed while maintaining a cleaning function of cleaning the image carrier, and an abnormal noise caused by the abnormal vibration is avoided. <P>SOLUTION: As for the process cartridge loaded in the image forming apparatus for forming an image on a recording material, the process cartridge is provided with the movable image carrier 1 having the surface layer whose loss tangent (tanδ) is ≥0.03 and ≤0.10 at 40°C, and the cleaning member 6 arranged coming in contact with the image carrier 1 so as to remove developer remaining on the image carrier 1, and a contact pressure P of the cleaning member 6 with the image carrier 1 is controlled. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
