<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lining brick whose thermal spalling resistance can be improved without deteriorating its corrosion resistance with the conserved energy, and is particularly suitable for a melting furnace for municipal waste and industrial waste. <P>SOLUTION: In the alumina-chrome brick, 3 to 30 wt.% of one or more kinds selected from alumina-zirconia, zirconia-mullite, mullite and cordierite having particle diameters of ≥0.3 mm are blended.
