PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat exchanger for the CO<SB>2</SB>coolant capable of obtaining the sufficient pressure resistance, while restricting a flow passage resistance of the coolant. SOLUTION: A header tank 10 has a header tank main body 11 and a cover plate 20. The header tank main body 11 has a coolant flow-in passage 12a and a coolant flow-out passage 12b arranged in parallel with each other, connection holes 14a and 14b formed in the inside surface 13 and to be communicated with the flow passages 12a and 12b, and a communication hole 15 for communicating the flow passages 12a and 12b with each other. The cover plate 20 has insertion holes 24a and 24b formed corresponding to the connection holes 14a and 14b. Each end of tubes 1a and 1b is inserted into the insertion holes 24a and 24b of the cover plate 20 arranged on the inside surface 13 of the header tank main body 11, and connected to the connection hole 14a and 14b of the header tank 11 for communication.
