The invention relates to a caliper for threads, meant for measuring the geometric parameters of the outer threads, in the machine building industry. In order to control the thread profile by the light slot method, the caliper for threads is provided with a drum (4) with more thread templates (5), said drum being mounted o a jaw (3) and co-working with a supporting prism (9) machined in the other jaw (8). The drum (4) with thread templates (5) is rotatable about the longitudinal axis and immobilized in the required position by means of an indexing device with balls (6) and it is retractable and replaceable by another one. For measuring the average diameter of the thread, on the ends of the two jaws (3 and 8) there are mounted a cone (10) and a prism (11) with support channel, the outer diameter of the thread being measured by two right prisms (j and k) machined in opposed positions, on the inner faces of the two jaws (3 and 8).
