<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the variation in moving speed or misalignment by stably driving a belt image-carrier and to improve the cleaning function of the image- carrier. <P>SOLUTION: A cleaning roll is brought into a pressurized contact with the image-carrier which is backed up by a driving roll.
