PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a bright coating material composition forming a white bright coating film without lowering the brightness of an aluminum flake pigment and free from a dark area at a shade part when slantly viewing the coating film, and provide a method for forming the coating film and a double-layer coating film. SOLUTION: The bright coating material composition contains an aluminum flake pigment, especially a pigment having an average particle diameter of 15-25μm, an average particle thickness of 0.5-1.5μm and a gradient (n) of a Rosin-Rammler chart of≥2.5, fine particles of an organic resin and a vehicle.
