PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aromatic polycarbonate resin having excellent transparency, heat resistance, and mechanical strength and, simultaneously, good moldability, and its effective production method. SOLUTION: The aromatic polycarbonate resin has a repeating unit derived from the residue of a 1,3-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)adamantane compound having a substituent in the aromatic ring.
