PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sliding roof device for a vehicle constituted to allow a slide and tilt operation of a movable panel by one driving mechanism and a slide operation of a sun shade panel. SOLUTION: A operating member 2 connected to the movable panel 5 and a driving member 3 connected to the driving mechanism 8 can be engaged with each other in at least two places at a predetermined moving interval in the sliding direction of the movable panel 5. The sliding roof device for the vehicle has a clutch mechanism 7 capable of releasing connection between the driving member 3 and the sun shade panel 6 when the operating member 2 and the driving member 3 lie within the predetermined moving interval.
