<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect chord information from a plurality of pieces of play data including an accompaniment part. <P>SOLUTION: In this chord detection system, pieces of play data A to C of a plurality of parts extracted from musical information as chord detection object data are quantized, moreover, chord judgment sections Ta1, Ta2,... to be uttered by overlapping musical notes N1 to N3, N7 to N10,... over all the parts are detected, chords are detected based on the overlapped musical notes in sections by every chord judgment section. Namely, for musical notes equal to the prescribed number or more to be started at the same timing, when end timing is the same or length of the shortest musical note is equal to or more than the prescribed length, overlapped time of the musical notes is defined as the chord judgment section and the chord is determined by searching for coincidence with sounds constituting the chord of a chord judgment table according to a first chord judgment process on integrating the overlapped musical notes by every pitch name by every chord judgment section.
