PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat developable photosensitive material having high sensitivity and high picture quality although the material is a silver halide photosensitive material having a high silver iodide content, and to provide a method for forming image by using the above material. SOLUTION: The heat developable photosensitive material containing at least photosensitive silver halides, nonphotosensitive organic silver slats, a heat developer and a binder on a transparent supporting body, is characterized in that the silver iodide content in the silver halides is 5 mol% to 100 mol%, and it is exposed to a light having the peak intensity in the wavelength range from 350 nm to 450 nm wavelength region and≥1 mW/mm<SP>2</SP>illuminance.
