摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ignition device of an internal combustion engine that prevents erroneous ignition at energization of a primary winding without providing a diode for back-flow prevention. SOLUTION: This ignition device 1 for an internal combustion engine restricts a change rate per unit of time of a primary current 21 that flows in a primary winding 33 to a small value, by driving and controlling an igniter 17 by an ignition command signal 72 after conversion of a waveform with a substantially trapezoid shape. Accordingly, induced voltage of reversed polarity generated on both ends of a secondary winding 34 by energization of the primary winding 33 does not reach a voltage value that can generate spark discharge on an ignition plug 13. As a result, the ignition device 1 can prevent erroneous ignition at the engine at a timing different from actual one (that is, at energization of the primary current) and also can prevent occurrence of spark discharge at energization of the primary winding 33 without providing a diode for back- flow prevention.
