PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a route-information provision system by which route information up to a desired shop can be provided in an understandable form to a user of a portable telephone equipped with a data communication facility. SOLUTION: In an information provision server 100 receiving shop information to be sent from the portable telephone 150, a position detection part 104 first detects a location of the portable telephone. A route search part 105 acquires a location of the decided shop from a shop-information storage part 103, and it searches a route up to the location of the shop from the location of the portable telephone 150 on a map stored in a map-information storage part 101 on the basis of the location of the portable telephone 150 and the location of the shop. The part 105 searches the route in cooperation with information stored in a public-transportation-facility-information storage part 102, and it searches a line route for a bus or a railroad usable for being moved up to the location of the shop from the location of the portable telephone 150.
