摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device which can perform image formation without using a discharge phenomenon and carry out the image formation at a low voltage as a method and device for image formation which form an image on an image display medium having a display layer changing in optical characteristics by electric field application. SOLUTION: Electric charges are injected into a float electrode Ef on a dielectric film 3 from an injection electrode Ei to form an electrostatic latent image corresponding to an image to be formed on the dielectric film 3. The dielectric film 3 where the electrostatic latent image is formed is put opposite the display medium MD1 and an electric field corresponding to the image to be formed is applied to the display layer DL1 of the medium MD1 with electrostatic latent image charges. The display layer DL1 includes a cell containing a dry type developer including two kinds of developing particles which are mutually different in color and charged to the mutually opposite polarities. When an electric field is applied to the developer, one of the two kinds of developing particles moves to an observation side and the other moves to the opposite side according to the direction of the electric field, thereby forming the image.
