PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an eyeglass lens capable of suppressing not only an average refracting power error and an astigmatism but also a distortion aberration while using a shallow base curve. SOLUTION: As for the eyeglass lens, an outer surface 1 is a spherical surface, and an inner surface 2 is a rotationally symmetric a spherical surface. The aberration is corrected by mainly considering the average refracting power error and the astigmatism in a center part having a visual angle of 0 to 30°, and the aberration is corrected by mainly considering the distortion aberration at a peripheral part. Thus, a clear image is obtained in a range covered by an eye movement and an image of small distortion is formed at the peripheral part of a retina when wearing the lens, thereby obtains satisfactory visual field. By weighting of aberration correction like this, body sensory optical performance in the case of wearing can be kept to be satisfactory without correcting all the average refracting power error, the astigmatism and the distortion aberration in all the region of the lens. Thus, both of satisfactory performance and adopting of the shallow base curve for making thin-thickness can be attained. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
