PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scanning optical system capable of correcting the inclination of a scanning line even when the change of a deflection point is asymmetric. SOLUTION: Laser beams L1, L2, L3 and L4 emitted from semiconductor lasers 11, 11... are simultaneously deflected by a polygon mirror 20 through collimating lenses 12, 12... and a cylindrical lens 13, and converged on photoreceptor drums 61 to 64 through a scanning lens 30 provided in common to four beams and correction lenses 51 to 54 provided for the respective beams and form beam spots. The one surface of the scanning lens 30 is an anamorphic surface where the distribution in a main scanning direction of power in a subscanning direction is asymmetric with respect to an optical axis, whereby the inclination of the scanning line caused by the asymmetry of the change of the deflection point is corrected.
