PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymer prepared by polymerizing chiefly a (meth) acrylate monomer having a long-chain alkyl and having a large number-average molecular weight and a narrow molecular weight distribution. SOLUTION: The long-chain-alkyl-containing (meth)acrylate polymer has a number-average molecular weight of 20,000-500,000 and a weight-average molecular weight/number-average molecular weight ratio of at most 1.8.
