PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple and highly versatile method for producing a silyl enol ether as a compound useful as an intermediate in organic synthesis. SOLUTION: This method for producing the silyl enol ether of the general formula: RCH=CH(OSiR<SP>1</SP>R<SP>2</SP>R<SP>3</SP>) comprises reacting the corresponding disilyl acetal of the general formula: RCH<SB>2</SB>CH(OSiR<SP>1</SP>R<SP>2</SP>R<SP>3</SP>)<SB>2</SB>in the presence of a transition metal catalyst.
