PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To selectively synthesize a double adduct derivative in which two organic groups are added to a fullerene skeleton and to isolate and purify the derivative in a high yield. SOLUTION: This double adduct derivative of fullerene is produced by reacting fullerene with an organometallic compound as a Grignard reagent in the presence of an oxidizing agent such as oxygen, etc. The production of C<SB>60</SB>äCH<SB>2</SB>Si(CH<SB>3</SB>)<SB>3</SB>}<SB>2</SB>, a trimethylsilylmethyl group double adduct using a trimethylsilylmethyl Grignard reagent is cited as a concrete example.
