PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a forklift capable of inserting forks into a pallet in a normal position in whatever environment and normally loading the pallet. SOLUTION: This forklift comprises position detection mechanisms 13a, 13b constituted of rotation members 14a, 14b rotatably connected with inside faces of a pair of forks 3a, 3b, displacement converting members 19a, 19b for converting rotational displacement of the rotation members 14a, 14b into linear displacement, transfer members 24a, 24b for transferring the linear displacement converted by the displacement converting members, and displacement detection sensors A, B for detecting linear displacement of the transfer members. The rotation members 14a, 14b rotate and displace by abutting on a middle beam of the pallet. The displacement detection sensors A, B detect the rotational displacement and thereby shifts of inserting positions of the forks 3a, 3b for an inserting port of the pallet are detected. A control section laterally moves the forks 3a, 3b so as to make the inserting positions normal by a drive section. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
