PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brake controller with inexpensive constitution, capable of executing bake assisting control with high operating frequency, without shutting down a system completely unless there is an abnormality in a part that executes the brake assisting control even there is an abnormality in a part that executes ABS control. SOLUTION: If no abnormality is found either in a valve system or in a motor system after both systems have been checked, operation is proceeded to a step 205 to permit the ABS control. If an abnormality occurs in any of them, a determination is made in a step 206 as to whether it is a failure of the motor system or not. If no abnormality is found in the motor system, operation is proceeded to a step 207 and the brake assisting control becomes executable. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
