Oct-2-en-4-one compounds with substituents in positions 2, 5, 6, 7 and 8, including E/Z isomers of all double bond structures and all possible stereoisomers, are new. Compounds of formula (I), including the E/Z isomers of all double bond structures and all possible stereoisomers, are new. R<1>, R<2> = CH2, CH3, CHCH3 or CH2CH3; R<3> = H, CH3 or CH2CH3; R<4>-R<7> = H or CH3, with the proviso that not all of these groups are H. The broken line indicates an optional double bond. An Independent claim is also included for perfume or fragrance compositions containing (I). |
