PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide components partially made out of a CMC material and having integrally-formed surface features such as the air flow enhancement features in the form of a turbulator or a flow guide. SOLUTION: The CMC material includes a number of sets of tows (bundle of fibers 20, 22) woven together to form a preform 28 that is infiltrated with a matrix material. The surface feature 18 is integrally formed on a surface 14 of a cooling passage 12 by insert members 24, 26 disposed between adjacent tows of the sets of tows. The insert members 24, 26 have a cross-sectional size larger than the adjacent tows, forming a protrusion part 30 in the preform 28, and the protrusion part 30 forms the surface features 18 in the infiltrated, consolidated an cured CMC material.
