PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gear train switching device for a camera capable of being driven with a plurality of gear trains changed over using one motive power source and narrowing its mounting area. SOLUTION: The gear train switching device is structured so that the rotation of a motor 11 is transmitted alternatively to either of a plurality of gear trains 50 and 60, wherein a slide gear 21 rotated by the motor 11 is formed rotatably and movably in the axial direction by a slide shaft 23, and a solenoid plunger 31 is installed to move the slide gear 21 in the axial direction for generating meshing alternatively with either of the first stage gears 51/61 of the gear trains 50/60.
