PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a polar group-containing olefin copolymer having excellent adhesiveness to a metal or a polar resin and compatibility with a polar resin, compositions containing the copolymer and these uses. SOLUTION: The method for producing a polar group-containing olefin copolymer is characterized by copolymerizing a 2-20Cα-olefin (A) represented by the general formula: CH<SB>2</SB>=CH-R<SP>1</SP>(R<SP>1</SP>is hydrogen or a 1-10C hydrocarbon group), with a polar group-containing olefin (B) represented by the general formula: CH<SB>2</SB>=C(R<SP>2</SP>)Y (R<SP>2</SP>is hydrogen or a 1-4C alkyl group; Y is a hydrogen- or oxygen-containing group) in the absence of a solvent or in the presence of a solvent having a dielectric constant of≤5.0. A thermoplastic resin composition, compatibilizer, adhesive, adhesive resin, resin modifier and filler dispersant containing the olefin copolymer are also provided. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
