PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the height of the section of an escalator even when a step body with a long riser is used. SOLUTION: A main frame 1 has a drive rail 4 for guiding a drive roller, a driven rail 5 for guiding a driven roller, and an auxiliary rail 6 for guiding an auxiliary roller. The driven roller and the driven rail 5 are disposed between the step body and a link mechanism and the auxiliary roller in the cross direction of steps 2, so that the position of the driven rail 5 in the upper/lower directions can be set without interference of the step body, the link mechanism, the auxiliary roller and the auxiliary rail 6.
