PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sufficiently protect a body part of a maintenance machine including an engine when the maintenance machine is in contact with a large stand and when the maintenance machine is in contact with grass, branches, small trees and the like, and thereby ensure concentration on work without causing unnecessary attention to the maintenance machine, by assembling a protector from a substantially platelike part for covering the front of the engine, and extension parts formed integrally with the substantially platelike part so as to extend back on both sides of the engine. SOLUTION: A single shaft type working machine 10 (maintenance machine) comprises a handlebar 18 at the back of the engine 11, a working part 13 under the engine 11, and the protector 46 in front of the engine 11. The protector 46 comprises the substantially platelike part 57 for covering the front of the engine 11, and the extension parts 58 and 59 formed integrally with the substantially platelike part 57 so as to extend back on both sides of the engine 11.
