<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet image recording material on which an image with a high quality can be rapidly and efficiently recorded and especially, such an image with a high quality that is comparable to a print obtained by a silver salt color sensitized material can be recorded, and a method for image recording. <P>SOLUTION: The inkjet image recording material in which an ink image receiving layer 6 consisting of at least one layer is provided on a substrate 2 and an image protective layer 8 and/or an overcoat layer 10 are provided on the ink image receiving layer 6 and a wetting agent is incorporated in at least one layer among the ink image receiving layer 6, the image protective layer 8 and the overcoat layer 10 except the outermost layer, is provided.
