[Class 98 (i)] In a focal-plane shutter, the slit-adjusting member is coupled to the regulating member of a resistance included in the circuit of a photo-electric exposure meter, a compensating gear converting the non-uniform movements of the slit adjusting member into uniform movements of the resistance regulating member. The winding knob 1, the shutter release knob 49, and the axially movable bolt 50 are mounted coaxially, and the hub of the knob 1 is rigidly connected to a disc 6 which carries a pin 14 adapted to couple with the slotted adjusting disc 2. The compensating lever 7 is pivoted on a pin 9 on the disc 2, and one end of the lever has a pin 10 which engages in a curved slot 11 on an intermediate wall 5 whilst the other end moves a carrier 8 and contact 3 on the resistance 4 of the photo electric meter. A gear wheel 18 on the hub of the disc 2 drives a film spool 21 through a gear wheel 19 and coupling spring 22. The shutter is wound through a gear wheel 28 which is carried along by coupling pins 26, 27 and a disc 23 coupled to the winding knob 1. The angular displacement (before winding) of the pins 26, 27 determines the slit width since it governs the amount of winding of the shutter curtain 34. The curtain shaft 33 driven through the gears 30, 31, 32, carries the curtain 34 and the driving bands 35. These bands pass through buckles 41 in the lower curtain 40 and over spring rollers 37. A catch device 42 holds the curtains in set position and is released by rotating a shaft 43 by means of a pin 45, lever 44 and pin 48, the latter being actuated by depression of the bolt 50 and the disc 23. In adjusting the slit width, the knob 1 is lifted and withdraws the pin 14. The pin is then inserted in another hole in the disc 2, the coupling disc 23 being similarly actuated and varying the angular relation between the pins 26, 27. The movement of the pin 14 produces a corresponding movement of the lever 7 and adjustment of the resistance 4.</p>
