<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately determine a timing of regeneration completion, by grasping an accurate combustion regeneration amount of particulate proximate to an actual condition. <P>SOLUTION: In this method, a fuel is added into an exhaust gas 3 at a more upstream side than the particulate filter 6 of catalyst regeneration type mounted in the middle of an exhaust pipe 4, and the particulate collected is burned by a reaction heat generated by oxidation reaction of the added fuel on the catalyst, thereby performing a forced regeneration of the particulate filter 6. After the fuel is added, a temperature of the exhaust gas 3 just after the particulate filter 6 is detected as a substitute value for a rear end temperature of the particulate filter 6, and the combustion regeneration amount per unit time set every temperature zone based on the detected temperature is summed up as time passes. When the integrated value becomes more than a target value based on an estimated accumulated amount of the particulate, it is determined that regeneration is completed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
