PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid a generation of temperature distribution in a catalyst carrier.

SOLUTION: A holding sealant 22 is intervened between the inner peripheral face of a metal shell 12 and the outer peripheral face of the catalyst carrier 21 housed in the shell 12. The outer peripheral face of the sealant 22 consists of a colored mat-shaped material 20.
