PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine automatic starter that prohibits start of an engine by a timer operation, if it is determined that a position of a shift lever is in a retreat position or an advance position. SOLUTION: This engine automatic starter that starts the engine by supplying power to a starter motor through a starter driving line, determines what position the shift lever selects from among a parking position, a neutral position, an advance position and a retreat position, and if it is determined that the shift lever has selected either the advance position or the retreat position, the starter prohibits start of the engine by the timer operation.
