PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems in a conventional traverse control device where the number of motion pulses per unit drive amount of a traverse motor for driving a traverse guide is unified in a traverse stroke, and hence processing load of a motor driver in high speed drive increases when the number of motion pulses per unit drive amount is increased, or a positional accuracy of the traverse guide decreases when the number of motion pulses per unit drive amount is decreased. SOLUTION: A traverse control device 5 comprises a motion controller 52 for generating a command signal for making the traverse motor 11 perform a predetermined driving operation, and a motor driver 51 for driving the traverse motor 11 according to the command signal. The motion controller 52 has a changing means for changing a form of the command signal so as to provide a different control amount of the motor driver 51 per unit drive amount of the traverse motor 11.
