<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure image formation and apparatus life by optimum picture quality and to manage the distribution route, sales, etc., of each brand by preventing the use of a process unit of a different brand or a pirated process unit for the apparatus body of an image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with a 1st electrode 5 attached to a process unit 4, a plurality of 2nd electrodes 3 formed on a position corresponding to the 1st electrode 5 in the apparatus body 2, an initial code storage part 6 for storing a conductive state between the 1st electrode 5 of the process unit 4 initially loaded on the apparatus body 2 and the 2nd electrodes 3, and a control part 7 for comparing a conductive state between the 1st electrode 5 of the process unit 4 loaded later and the 2nd electrodes 3 of the device body 2 with the conductive state stored in the storage part 6, and when both the conductive states are different from each other, limiting image forming operation. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
