<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device unit and developing unit of simple constitution which never makes a use misoperate to replace a functional component before the functional component has its life limit. <P>SOLUTION: Provided are the functional component 41 and two kinds of 1st and 2nd consumable storage containers 40a and 40b which supply consumables to the functional component 41; and consumables which are as many as consumables to be consumed in the lifetime period of the functional component 41 are stored divisionally in the consumable storage containers 40a and 40b. The 1st consumable storage container 40a is loaded in the device unit 4 before the device unit 4 begins to be used and the 2nd consumables storage container 40b, on the other hand, is loaded in the device unit 4 instead of the 1st consumables storage container 40a after the consumables in the 1st consumable storage container 40a are consumed.
