PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for producing a synthetic fiber, enabling speeding-up of spinning velocity while suppressing orientation unevenness and fluctuation of filaments. SOLUTION: This method for producing a synthetic fiber comprises carrying out melt spinning of a plurality of filaments F from a spinneret 2 having a plurality of discharge holes 3, blowing cooling air to these spun filaments F in obliquely lower direction to filament traveling direction to cool these spun filaments F and applying stream parallel to the traveling direction to these spun filaments to pull these filaments.
