PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suitably deal with printing plates having various sizes. SOLUTION: The apparatus for raising the printing plates having various dimensions comprises a vacuum system having a vacuum source, and a plurality of suction cups connected to the vacuum source so that at least one of the cup is connected to the vacuum source by using a joint having no channel contraction and at least one cup is connected to the vacuum source by using a joint having a fixed orifice. The system raises the printing plate of the uppermost part from a stack of the printing plates. The cups connected to the vacuum source by using the joint having no channel contraction is always engaged with the printing plate of the uppermost part. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
