<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new complex of cellulose and a water-soluble material, useful as a pharmaceutical, food, cosmetic, and industrial additive, and to provide a method for producing the same. <P>SOLUTION: This complex comprises the cellulose and the water-soluble material, wherein the cellulose has an average degree of polymerization of 13-100, a fraction of I-type cellulose of ≤0.1, and a fraction of II-type cellulose of ≥0.5. The method for producing the complex comprises contacting and reacting cellulose having an average degree of polymerization of ≥100 with supercritical or subcritical water having a temperature of 250-450°C and a pressure of 15-450 MPa for 0.01-5 sec to hydrolyze and dissolve the cellulose, and adding the water-soluble material to the hydrolyzed cellulose in a dissolved state. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
