<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately maintain a frictional force between a cleaning blade and a latent image carrier and prevent defective cleaning by forming a surface staining part of a thin toner film on a latent image carrier surface (non image forming part) corresponding to a paper passing interval, in the case the paper passing interval becomes longer when a toner image on the latent image carrier is transferred on a transfer paper. <P>SOLUTION: As for the image forming apparatus provided with the latent image carrier 1, an electrifying device 2, an exposure means 3, a developing device 4, a transfer device 5, a paper feeding device 6, a cleaning device 10 equipped with a cleaning blade 11 for removing the toner remaining on the latent image carrier after a transfer process in contact with the surface of the latent image carrier, and a control part 20 for controlling the aforesaid carrier, devices and means, the surface staining part constituted of the toner is formed on the latent image carrier surface corresponding to the interval between the passing transfer papers fed to a transfer position by the paper feeding device, and the toner quantity on the surface staining part is controlled so as to increase/decrease in accordance with the length of the interval between the passing papers. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
