摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an interlace display type plasma display device in which peak luminance is improved. <P>SOLUTION: The device has a plasma display panel 10, conducts gradation display using a subfield method and is provided with a subfield that is at least provided with an address interval and a sustain interval. Moreover, the device is provided with data compressing circuits 42 and 43 in which interlace input image signals are converted into progressive image signals, the signals are divided into groups for every one of a plurality of display lines adjacent to each other and compressed data are generated by converting the signals so that display data of each group in a prescribed subfield are made same, a P&rarr;I converting circuit 44 which generates display image signals to conduct interlacing for every 'n' lines for the compressed data and a driving circuit which simultaneously selects the display lines of each group for the prescribed subfield in the address interval. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
