<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display which can control a cell gap without flawing a reflection electrode 5 as a reflection type and a transmission and reflection type liquid crystal display. <P>SOLUTION: A columnar spacer 10 which extends in the opposition direction of electrode substrates 21 and 22 is formed in a region on the electrode substrate 22 which faces a region on the electrode substrate 21 where the reflection electrode 5 is formed. The columnar spacer 10 consist of a material having compressive elastic modulus ≥160 kg/mm<SP>2</SP>and ≤200 kg/mm<SP>2</SP>. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
