The invention concerns a 4-methyl-2-oxo-2H-1-benzopyran-7-yl 5-thio- beta -d-xylopyranoside compound of formula (I) wherein: R represents a C1-C5 alkyl group, which is linear, branched or cyclized, a mono-unsaturated C2-C3 alkene group, a C2-C3 hydroxyalkyl group or a C3-C6 alkoxyalkyl group. The invention also concerns the method for preparing said compound and the therapeutic use thereof as antithrombotic substance.
