The protection device has a bottom part (2) fitted to a socket insert (1) and a spring-loaded rotary slider (8), having a central bore fitting over a pin (3) provided by the bottom part, used for closing the plug pin openings in the socket insert. The rotary slider has spring arms (12,13) cooperating with guide rails (5,6) of the bottom part, for providing an automatic resetting force when the slider is moved from the closed into the open position.
