PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel retroreflective object formed with an image by partly removing a mirror surface reflecting layer to improve problems of visibility and durability of the image installed on the retroreflective object, and to provide a method for forming the image. SOLUTION: The retroreflective object formed with the image comprises a first layer having a flat first surface, and a second layer having a retroreflective element layer having a second surface exposed at the mirror surface reflection layer. The method for forming the image comprises the step A of installing a photoreactive resin layer on the mirror surface reflection layer of the second surface, the step B of partly reacting a photoreactive resin by selectively light illuminating, the step C of partly removing the selective region of the photoreactive resin layer, and the step D of forming the image by a partial removal of the mirror surface reflection layer. The method for forming the image comprises the step of forming the image by a partial removal of the mirror surface reflection layer by using the retroreflective object having the first layer having the flat first surface and the retroreflective element layer having the second surface exposed at the mirror surface reflection layer.
