PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technical means simply and automatically measuring an edge line of a one-flute straight bit without stopping a machine and with the bit rotating in a machining process of a wood and a wooden material by a CNC (computer numerical control) router. SOLUTION: A laser dimension measuring instrument is introduced in the CNC router. Measurement start/completion positions and measurement intervals of the bit are set beforehand, and the bit is moved in the laser light of a sensor head of the laser dimension measuring instrument, so that a laser light illuminates the measurement start position. Then, the maximum value of the bit outside diameter is measured, the bit is axially raised by the measurement interval, and similarly, the maximum value of the bit outside diameter is measured. The process is repeatedly performed to the measurement completion position, and the edge line can be measured from the maximum value of the obtained bit outside diameter by a curve interpolation.
